Road to California

What a WHIRLWIND! I think I should be much more tired than I am..but I had a BLAST! Saturday morning I was on the road at 6:30, bound for the airport. I flew from Phoenix to Ontario CA. My friend Linda and her daughter picked me up and we drove across the freeway to the convention center. Our friend Julie No Blog, met us at the door and we were OFF! I had a few things I wanted to make sure I didn't miss, so I headed off to see if I could find my friend, AnofAvonle. We have been online friends for a long time, chatting in the same chat room on AOL. I found her booth..WAAAY in the back. She had just gone on break...::SIGH::: OK, I will come back. We shopped and looked at quilts all morning. Lunchtime and I'm STARVING! Look what Julie made us?!

A picnic lunch under the trees! It was cool...quiet...YUMMY! I must have been VERY hungry! I ate a TON and was never stuffed! I also was not starved for dinner MANY hours later...

She even brought me the 'special' plate because I came from AZ just for the show. I'm SO pampered! What a change from home! HA!

Back to see if I could find my friend...NOW she is at lunch! More shopping...more checking out the quilts. I usually cannot shop with other people. If I'm on my own at a show, I start at one end and methodically go up and down each row. I make note of where I stopped at lunch or a break so I can start back up where I left off. I didn't do that this time. I saw most everything, but I was not stressed about hitting EVERYTHING. Third time to see my friend:

She was THERE!

Third times the charm! I wish we lived closer, we had a great time chatting.

By the time we left the show, it was DARK out! I was glad I had packed LIGHTLY! Plenty of room for all my goodies:

A BlockParty panel. Won't this be cute for a class room wallhanging? I know JUST the teacher I want to do this one for!

I usually get a new t-shirt from blockparty as well. I'm happy this one is not WHITE! Food seems naturally attracted to any white shirt I wear. ESPECIALLY the quilty ones...:::SIGH:::::

And the bulk of my loot...a Layer Cake and some 5 inch block packs. The pattern for this was sold out. I should get mine in the mail this week. Thread from Superior threads. I got a Masterpiece spool to try when my Aurifil runs out. The rest is King Tut. A Bali a jelly roll, but all Bali batiks. THis one is called Kiwiberry...purples, blues and lime green-YUM! A new panto-another feathery one, a centering measuring tape for the frame, some purse handles and a couple of indigos for my friend.

The next morning we were out the DOOR at 6 am..bound for an antique and flea market that opened at 5:30. It was GREAT..but I wish I had my van and a trailer! The market was just about across the street from the Long Beach airport. I flew home, picked up the car and walked in the door 10 minutes before kick off : HOW ABOUT THOSE AZ CARDINALS! WHEW! Are you worn out just HEARING about it! Told ya it was a BLAST!

Look what I got in the mail!?

Clue #1: its from LONDON! (oh BOY! International mail!)

Clue 2: its small and from
(did you see the hint on the next clue ???)

They are Mini Moo cards! Aren't they cute? On the back I have my name, town, blog addy and e-mail addy. I like to be able to give out my e-mail with out having to whip out pen and paper. Just in time to visit Road to California this weekend! You upload your own pictures or use their stock ones. I used my quilty pictures. Most of these you have seen on my blog already. TOO COOL!
Thanks Nancy for the idea!

I have been rescued!

I Rescued a Human Today

Her eyes met mine as she walked down the corridor peering apprehensively into the kennels. I felt her need instantly and knew I had to help her. I wagged my tail, not too exuberantly, so she wouldn't be afraid.

As she stopped at my kennel I blocked her view from a little accident I had in the back of my cage. I didn't want her to know that I hadn't been walked today. Sometimes the shelter keepers get too busy and I didn't want her to think poorly of them.

As she read my kennel card I hoped that she wouldn't feel sad about my past. I only have the future to look forward to and want to make a difference in someone's life.

She got down on her knees and made little kissy sounds at me. I shoved my shoulder and side of my head up against the bars to comfort her. Gentle fingertips caressed my neck; she was desperate for companionship.

A tear fell down her cheek and I raised my paw to assure her that all would be well. Soon my kennel door opened and her smile was so bright that I instantly jumped into her arms. I would promise to keep her safe. I would promise to always be by her side. I would promise to do everything I could to see that radiant smile and sparkle in her eyes. I was so fortunate that she came down my corridor. So many more are out there who haven't walked the corridors. So many more to be saved. At least I could save one.

I rescued a human today.

That being said...said 'rescuer' has been caught today....

Eating this: ( its a lego helmet)

this...(THIS is a MYSTERY!..not only what is is!...but WHERE did it come from!?)

and THIS...I know this came from the backyard! BUT: we jave NO pine trees in our yard! This came from an offending pine that belongs to the CITY! It leans over our fence...and sheds needles in our pool in the summer...oh YAY! NOT!....and pinecones in the fall and winter. Usually the cones are not a problem...UNTIL Said 'Rescuer' came to our rescue. We did not KNOW we 'needed' this particular pinecone IN Our be...GNAWED on! It also made a mess in the living room. (that was just vaccumed YESTERDAY! This house is not a is LIVED IN. BIG TIME!)

Nothing quilty to show...maybe tomorrow. I cut out some UFOs to work on next, but I HAVE to do a commssion quilt FIRST. NO MORE LOLLYGAGGING! And thats an ORDER! (do you give yourself commands? Salute yourself? Say "yes MA'AM" to yourself? well...maybe I should do it MORE! HA! )

On the other hand, no pizzas have landed pepperoni side DOWN on the kitchen floor....and no dog toys have been de-stuffed either. Then again, maybe all the dog toys are already FLAT!

I'm off to get your something quilty to see...I know! I'm about to load a Matchstick Marimba on the frame! You will like that! Its pretty and soon...

no this is not quilty!

its DOGGY!

I want you to know, this is a MINOR offense! This scene repeats itself DAILY. I think all the 'stuffies' in the house are FLAT. Anyone have any brands that are puppy teeth proof!? He even nibbles the fuzz off tennis balls...and had devoured one was in pieces, he didn't EAT it! I tried one of those hard bones (nylabones I think they are called), but that does not go over too well. I'm not sure I want to give him a rawhide...And the Terrier of Undetermined Lineage will take it away from him anyway! That TUL! When I was still leashing the pup, he would take the toys I had put for the pup to play with JUST outside his reach! And when I come upon a fluffy sea in the living room, there is much INNOCENCE displayed! 'Who ME??? NO, it was not ME! Aren't I just the CUTEST thing you ever brought home??? Huh , huh , huh?" :::SIGH::::: And when he turns on the "RCA dog' head tilt...well, I'm just SUNK!

uh oh!

THIS does not bode well for my New Year! Do you know what this is? Its a pepperoni hanging from the broiler element in the oven. The top rack was left up on the top setting after the holiday meal. My son put the pizza stone in and set the oven temp for me. When I went to get the pizza out with the big wooden peel, I caught it on the element. While I was looking at the pepperoni...I did:

THIS! I really DO think, Murphy lives at my house. I cleaned it all up...the boys kept the dogs at bay while I mopped up the remains. :::SIGH::: They have now eaten the CHEESE pizza that was left in the freezer. (the BOYS ate pizza..the dogs just longingly licked the mopped floor!) Maybe I should go back to bed and start over!? I think I will go back to the studio...take out is in order for dinner, dont'cha think?
